But with a weight of over 400 grams and a thickness of almost two centimetres, it places entirely different demands on your accessories. Many people wonder why you would need to cover a phone that’s already built to military standards and designed for extreme environments. The answer lies in day-to-day handling and ergonomics.
- Maximised grip and friction: A hefty device weighing over 400 grams builds up enormous kinetic energy if it falls. Even though the chassis can withstand the impact, you’ll want to avoid dropping it on your foot or into a toolbox. A cover made from shock-absorbing silicone or textured TPU provides the friction needed to keep the phone securely in your hand, even if you’re wearing thick work gloves or have wet hands.
- Protection against grit and fine sand: The phone’s screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. As this model is used almost exclusively on building sites, in workshops or in the woods, it is exposed to microscopic dust and sand – which are the main causes of screen damage. A combined screen protector is therefore an inexpensive way to ensure the high-resolution 120Hz screen remains intact.
The best way to carry your Ulefone RugKing 4 Pro
As the phone is 19.2 mm thick, it rarely fits in a standard pocket without restricting your movement. For optimal functionality, we therefore recommend:
- Case with belt clip (holster): By far the most convenient solution. By attaching the phone to your belt, you always have quick access to it, whilst keeping your pockets free.
- Case that covers a carabiner: Perfect when you need to attach your phone to a work vest, harness or rucksack whilst hunting, hiking or climbing.
When it comes to mounting in vehicles, we strongly recommend choosing a case or cover that is compatible with mechanical clamp holders. Due to the phone’s heavy weight, magnetic systems (which are otherwise used for wireless, magnetic standards) are rarely strong enough to hold the phone in place whilst operating machinery or navigating bumpy forest tracks.
Frequently asked questions
Do I really need a cover if the phone is shock-resistant?
Yes, primarily for ergonomic reasons. The shock-resistant chassis can sometimes be slippery. A cover adds friction and prevents you from dropping the heavy phone, whilst also acting as an extra shock absorber that absorbs kinetic energy before it reaches the glass.
Does a cover interfere with the phone’s Super Torch flashlight or cameras?
No. All our dedicated covers are precision-cut. They feature raised bezels around the powerful flashlight, the 48MP camera and the macro camera, so you can lay the phone flat on rough surfaces (such as concrete or stone) without scratching the lenses.
Can I use a screen protector whilst in Glove Mode?
Yes. The touch sensitivity in the phone’s built-in Glove Mode is strong enough to work seamlessly through both plastic films and tempered glass screen protectors, giving you full functionality in cold conditions without compromising on scratch protection.
Do the cases dry quickly if I use the phone’s underwater camera?
If you plan to make use of the waterproofing (IP68/IP69K) for underwater photography, we recommend choosing a cover made from TPU or polycarbonate. These materials do not absorb water and dry instantly, unlike traditional wallet cases made from faux leather or fabric.
