How does an NFC ring work?
It's likely that you've interacted with NFC technology before without realising it - in fact, we can almost guarantee that you have. NFC (Near Field Communication) allows the sharing of information and data between two devices as long as they are close enough to each other. It is the NFC function that makes everything from train commuter cards, library cards and hotel doors work. On mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches, NFC has long been standard.Â
This technology has many different advantages. One of the biggest is that it does not require a physical connection between devices, such as a cable, to transfer information. Another is that it does not require a communication technology such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, which can only be maintained using other forms of complementary technology, such as a battery. An NFC chip thus allows communication as long as the devices are very close to each other, which also allows an NFC-enabled device to be waterproof, lightweight and simple.
